Punk! Music and Lifestyle


Punk has a different connotation. As a sub-culture, punk was born in London, England. Initially, the group (scene) punk always at war with skinhead groups. When punk rampant in America, circa the 80's punk and skinhead groups together, because it has the same spirit of rebellion.

Then, as the flow of music, punk is a type of music or genre that was born early 1970's. In addition, the term punk is also often interpreted as an ideology of life that includes social and political aspects.

As a social movement politics, groups of working class children are immediately penetrated the U.S. who are experiencing financial problems due to the economic and moral decline of political figures.They (punker) tried to satirize the ruling policy through the beat of loud music, fast, and simple lyrics and rough.

In terms of lifestyle, punk known to often use a rather odd style (for that time), a Mohawk hair style indian tribe, colored with bright colors, boots, chains, spikes, leather jackets, tight jeans, and shirts shabby.

Many who thought that people who look like that it deserves to be called as a punker (call for followers of the punk lifestyle.) Punker also pointed out as a class of anti-establishment, anti-social, the rioters and low-class criminal, and dangerous drunks.

With the above explanation, the punk can also be categorized as part of the art world. Growing in the world of punk music is a form of disappointment-class rock musicians under the established music industry dominated by musicians, such as The Beatles, Rolling Stone, and Elvis Presley.

Musicians do not play punk rock tones of high technical or love song. They prefer to play songs that are similar cries of protest demonstrators. The lyrics tell the sense of frustration, anger, and saturation of the law, education, unemployment and repression against the people's ruler.

It was labeled as punk rock and roll music left flow.Record companies were reluctant to orbit them.The second wave punk band (1980-1984), such as Crass, Conflict, Discharge, The Ex, BGK, MDC and Dead Kennedys change the punks so idealism with soul rebel (Rebellious thinkers).

Anarchism that carried the first wave punk band (1972-1978), among others, the Sex Pistols and the Clash, is seen as an option because of loss of confidence in the authority of the state, society, and the music industry.

Their spirit of doing things by ourselves (Do It Your Self) enviable. Those with a passionate spirit dare to express opposition to the party who were in power.
